Guide on Alcohol and Seniors Now Available
The Yukon Liquor Corporation has released Alcohol as We Age [162KB ], a new booklet aimed at helping seniors, their families and caregivers understand the risks related to alcohol consumption as we age. 

LIQUOR ACT CHANGES
Changes to the Liquor Act, Liquor Regulations, and the Summary Conviction Regulations are effective April 1/09.

These changes:

1. allow the RCMP to hold an intoxicated person in custody for up to 24 hours;
2. increase fines and penalties for liquor related offences;
3. serve U Brew/U-Vin products at private family events held in a public place under reception permit;
4. permit RV Park owners to sell beer and wine to their registered overnight guests;
5. eliminate meal requirement for restaurants;
6. eliminate hotel room requirement for bars ;
7. streamline classes of liquor licenses;
8. and, with written parental consent and under adult supervision:
   a)  allow minors to serve liquor in restaurants;
   b)  allow minors to enter bars for limited work purposes, not including preparing or serving liquor;
   c)  allow minors to provide entertainment in bars.
