Apply for a cannabis licence

To be able to sell non-medical cannabis in Yukon you must have a valid licence issued by the Cannabis Licensing Board and purchase cannabis from the Yukon Liquor Corporation.

Before starting your application, the Cannabis Control and Regulation Act contain eligibility criteria. For more information on eligibility please refer to section 26(3) of the Cannabis Control and Regulation Act.

 Application packages

There are four application packages specific to the type of business you want to operate.

 YLC has developed the Cannabis Applicant's Handbook to assist with you complete your application.

Licence periods and fees
  • Licences can be issued up to three years, ending on March 31 of the expiring year.
  • Licence fees (all fees are non-refundable):
    • Initial application fee: $2,050;
    • Renewal application fee: $1,550;
    • 12-month licence fee: $2,150 (annual);
      • If a licence is not issued on April 1 the licence fee will be prorated from the month issued to March 31.

The Yukon Liquor Corporation’s goal is to keep cannabis prices as low as possible and to only cover its costs in order to ensure private sales are viable and local businesses can competitively displace the illicit market with safe and quality products.
